8/14/22 - I have come to set the earth on fire! - Cycle C
Dear Families,
Jesus continues to teach us that true disciples love God above all else. In this Sunday’s Gospel, it is difficult to understand what Jesus said to his disciples: “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! Jesus is speaking about the flame he wants blazing in our hearts with his love. He also says that he has come not only to bring peace but also division. He wants his disciples to understand that faith is not understood by everyone, and some will be against it. Our faith requires us to make hard choices. Being a follower of Jesus means we wouldn’t make a bad choice just to have friends or make someone else happy.
Following Jesus is not easy, but good choices help us have peaceful hearts and minds. A true disciple loves God above all relationships and things.

8/14/22 - ¡He venido a traer fuego a la tierra! - Ciclo C
Querida Familias,
Jesús continúa enseñándonos que los verdaderos discípulos aman a Dios por encima de todo. En el Evangelio de este domingo, es difícil entender lo que Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "¡He venido a traer fuego a la tierra!, y cómo desearía que ya estuviera ardiendo! Jesús está hablando de la llama que quiere que brille en nuestros corazones con su amor. También dice que ha venido no sólo para traer la paz sino también la división. Él quiere que sus discípulos entiendan que la fe no es entendida por todos, y algunos estarán en contra de ella. Nuestra fe requiere que tomemos decisiones difíciles. Ser un seguidor de Jesús significa que no tomaríamos una mala decisión solo para tener amigos o hacer feliz a otra persona.
Seguir a Jesús no es fácil, pero las buenas decisiones nos ayudan a tener corazones y mentes en paz. Un verdadero discípulo ama a Dios por encima de todas las relaciones y cosas.
