7/28/24 - The Miracle of the Eucharist - Cycle B

Dear Families,

In this Sunday’s Gospel of John, we listen to how Jesus saw the huge crowd of people that had come to hear him and needed food. When he asked his disciples to feed them, they don’t think they can help. They told him that there were only 5 loaves of barley bread and two fish that a boy had brought with him. Jesus took the bread and gave thanks to God, and over 5,00 people were fed plus there were twelve baskets of leftovers. Jesus’ miracle was a sign that he is truly the Son of God.

Let us remember that God feeds and nourishes us. He fulfills our physical as well as our spiritual needs. At Mass we offer the gifts of bread and wine to God and He turns it into the Body and Blood of Jesus. In the Eucharist we are fed by Jesus himself, and our spiritual needs, works, and talents are blessed and multiplied to help us live and serve others.

Querida Familias,

En el Evangelio de Juan de este domingo, escuchamos cómo Jesús vio a la gran multitud de personas que habían venido a escucharlo y necesitaban comida. Cuando les pidió a sus discípulos que los alimentaran, no creen que puedan ayudar. Le dijeron que solo había 5 panes de cebada y dos pescados que un niño había traído. Jesús tomó el pan y dio gracias a Dios, y más de 5,000 personas fueron alimentadas, y además quedaron doce canastas con las sobras. El milagro de Jesús fue una señal de que él es verdaderamente el Hijo de Dios.

Recordemos que Dios nos alimenta y nos nutre. Él satisface nuestras necesidades físicas, así como nuestras necesidades espirituales. En la Misa ofrecemos los dones del pan y del vino a Dios y Él lo convierte en el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Jesús. En la Eucaristía somos alimentados por Jesús mismo, y nuestras necesidades espirituales, obras y talentos son bendecidos y multiplicados para ayudarnos a vivir y servir a los demás.

Oración en Familia: Jesús, en ocasiones nosotros también tenemos hambre. Tenemos hambre de amor, motivación o paz. Ayúdanos a acercarnos a ti para que puedas darnos todas las cosas que necesitamos y ayudar a los demás. Amén.
