October is Respect-Life Month

From the Bishop's Office/Chancery Information

As we begin Respect Life Month, I want to take this opportunity to affirm our unwavering commitment to promoting the sanctity and dignity of every human life from conception to natural death. While our office has recently undergone a period of reorganization in regard to Pro-Life Ministry, we, with Catholic Health, continue to support pro-life initiatives across the diocese with dedication and renewed focus. We remain steadfast in our mission to advocate for the most vulnerable, particularly the unborn, and to assist all of you in fostering a culture of life within your parishes.

With this in mind, I encourage you to take full advantage of the following resources and initiatives to inspire and engage your parish communities:

  1. USCCB Resources for Respect Life Month

The USCCB offers a wealth of materials that can support your parish in celebrating Respect Life Month. Please take a look at their resources here: [USCCB Pro-Life Resources](https://www.usccb.org/prolife).

  1. March for Life in Washington, D.C. – January 24, 2025

We are excited to announce that our diocese will again participate in the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., on January 24. I encourage your parish to collaborate with neighboring parishes to organize pilgrims for the trip. As always, St. Joseph’s on Capitol Hill will be open to provide a place of prayer and refreshment for our pilgrims after the March, and the Bishop will be there to greet them.

  1. FIAT: Supporting Women in Crisis

Earlier this year, on the Feast of the Annunciation, the Diocese, in collaboration with Catholic Health, launched FIAT, a new initiative aimed at supporting women in crisis pregnancies. I ask that you promote this important ministry among your parishioners. More information can be found here: [FIAT - Pregnancy Help (https://www.catholichealthli.org/pregnancy-help). We have extra marketing materials available in the office if you are in need of more materials.

Thank you for your continued support of pro-life ministry. May God bless you as you continue to uphold the dignity of every human life in your parish communities.

In Christ,
Fr. Matt Browne
