Dear Families,

In this Sunday’s Gospel, a blind man named Bartimaeus calls out to Jesus to cure him.  The people in the crowd tell him to stop calling out, but he calls out more loudly.  He won’t be silenced.  Jesus hears him and goes to him and asks him “What do you want me to do for you?”  He replies.  “Master, I want to see”.  Jesus tells Bartimaeus that his faith has saved him and he receives his sight.

Sometimes we can be blind too.  We don’t see the truth about God and are blind to our own faults.  Perhaps we are hurting or feeling alone or sad.  Like Bartimaeus, we should call out to Jesus to help us and not let anyone stop us.  Jesus wants us to believe that he can heal us.  He shows us that our persistence in prayer is a sign of our faith.

As a family watch video in its entirety and then ask each other these questions?

What do you want Jesus to heal for you?  Do you believe that he can heal you?

Family Prayer:  Lord, sometimes we don’t even recognize that we need healing.  Help us to see where we might be broken and humbly ask you to heal us.

Dear Families,

In this Sunday’s Gospel Jesus calls Andrew, Simon (Peter), James and John to leave their jobs as fishermen and to follow him.  When God calls, we must be ready to drop everything and follow.

As a family watch video in its entirety and then ask each other this question. What would you have to leave behind to follow Jesus?

Family Prayer:  Lord, help us to follow you because you know what will make us truly happy.  Amen

Dear Families,

If you were invited to a party, would you go?  In this Sunday’s Gospel, the guests who were invited did not come, so the host invited strangers.  Every Sunday, we are invited to come to God’s house.  Sometimes we may not feel like going, but God is always waiting for our arrival.

As a family watch video in its entirety than ask each other this question. Why is Sunday Mass such an important and special celebration?

Family Prayer:  Thank you, Lord, for sending us an invitation to be a part of your family and come to your celebration every Sunday!  Amen

Dear Families,

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus taught thousands of people about living a holy life, and then he fed them by a miracle of multiplying five loaves and two fishes.

Jesus still wants to feed us both spiritually and physically.  At Mass he comes to us in the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Jesus shares himself with us through the Gospel and then in the Eucharist.

As a family, watch video in its entirety and then ask each other this question.
How can you recognize the needs of others, whether they are spiritual, emotional or physical?

Family Prayer:  Dear Jesus, help us to notice when others need our help, whether it is with their spiritual, emotional, or physical needs. Amen

Dear Families,

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus calms the storm surrounding the Apostles.  Jesus also calms the storms in our lives.

Jesus reminds us that we must trust in him even when things look scary, because he is always in control.

As a family, watch video in its entirety and then ask each other this question.

In what area of your life do you need to trust Jesus more?

Family Prayer:  Lord, we all experience storms in life.  Help us to trust you even when life seems difficult. Amen

Queridas familias,
