2/9/25 - Jesus Calls His Followers - Cycle C

Dear Families,

In this Sunday’s Gospel of Luke, Jesus speaks to the crowd from Simon Peter’s boat. Then he encourages Simon to cast his net into the water. Simon questions why Jesus tells him to do this but does as he is instructed and catches many fish! Jesus tells him not to be afraid and that from now on, he will be “catching men.”

Jesus calls us to follow him too. One way that we follow Jesus is by telling others about him. Jesus speaks the same message to us today to be fishers of men for his Kingdom. God wants others to see the light of Christ in us in the way we live, speak, and witness the joy of the Gospel.

Querida Familias,

En el Evangelio de Lucas de este domingo, Jesús habla a la multitud desde la barca de Simón Pedro. Luego anima a Simón a echar su red al agua. Simón pregunta por qué Jesús le dice que haga esto, pero hace lo que él le ordena, ¡y pesca un montón! Jesús le dice que no tema y que, de ahora en adelante, será “pescador de hombres”.

Jesús nos llama a seguirlo también. Una forma en que seguimos a Jesús es contándole a otros acerca de él. Jesús nos habla el mismo mensaje hoy de ser pescadores de hombres para su Reino. Dios quiere que otros vean la luz de Cristo en nosotros en la forma en que vivimos, hablamos y testificamos el gozo del Evangelio.
