5/1/22 - Jesus Appears to Seven Disciples - Cycle C

Dear Families,

This Sunday’s Gospel tells us about the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples and shares a meal with them after his Resurrection. Jesus disciples had been fishing all night but caught nothing. In the morning they see a man who tells them to lower their nets again. They catch many fish! John recognizes him, “It is the Lord,” he told Peter. Hearing this, Peter jumped into the water and swam to meet Jesus on the shore. Jesus makes them breakfast and eats with them.

Jesus fed his disciples, and he continues to feeds us. The Risen Christ feeds us with his Body and Blood at every Mass. Jesus is present with us at every Eucharist, in every word of the Gospel, and whenever we join together in prayer. Jesus surprises us as he surprised his disciples out fishing. We find him with us when we don’t expect him or when we have little hope.

How do you recognize Jesus in the Mass? In other people? In some other way?

Family Prayer: Jesus, help us recognize your presence in our lives today. Help us recognize and pray for the physical and emotional needs of others. Feed us all when we need nourishment and encouragement. Amen

Querida Familia,

El Evangelio de este domingo nos habla de la tercera vez que Jesús se apareció a sus discípulos y comparte una comida con ellos después de su Resurrección. Los discípulos de Jesús habían estado pescando toda la noche, pero no capturaron nada. Por la mañana ven a un hombre que les dice que vuelvan a bajar sus redes. ¡Capturan muchos peces! Juan lo reconoce: "Es el Señor", le dijo a Pedro. Al escuchar esto, Pedro saltó al agua y nadó para encontrarse con Jesús en la orilla. Jesús les prepara el desayuno y come con ellos.

Jesús alimentó a sus discípulos, y continúa alimentándonos a nosotros. Cristo Resucitado nos alimenta con su Cuerpo y Sangre en cada Misa. Jesús está presente con nosotros en cada Eucaristía, en cada palabra del Evangelio, y cada vez que nos unimos en oración. Jesús nos sorprende como sorprendió a sus discípulos pescando. Lo encontramos con el cuándo no lo esperamos o cuando tenemos poca esperanza.

Oración en Familia: Jesús, ayúdanos a reconocer tu presencia en nuestras vidas hoy. Ayúdanos a reconocer y orar por las necesidades físicas y emocionales de los demás. Aliméntanos a todos cuando necesitamos alimento y aliento. Amén
